College students are definitely not known for their cleanliness, but when it comes to men vs. women, a new study by CollegeStats tells a gross, but unsurprising story.

The study, which sampled eight commonly bacteria-rich surfaces in dorm rooms, showed that overall, men’s dorm rooms are much dirtier. Compared to women’s dorm rooms, men’s dorms had 3.5 times more bacteria per square inch overall. Men also had much dirtier sheets than women, with 150,000 times more bacteria.

Women, on the other hand, took the top spot for bathroom bacteria. Bathroom doorknobs in women’s dorms had 9,000 times more bacteria than men’s dorms. Bathroom light switches came in at a close second, with 25,000 colonies per square inch.
