Conservative students encouraged to film their professors

In such polarizing political times, especially on college campuses, conservative students often find themselves hiding their beliefs and opinions. Conservative activists, however, are encouraging students to make their voices heard through social media. 

Campus Reform, a self-called watchdog for higher education, tells students to start recording if their professor starts “ranting” about politics and then share it on social media. This isn’t meant to speak out against liberal professors, but rather let conservative or non-liberal students know that they are not alone on campus. 

Recording professors can come with consequences, though. A college student in California was suspended for two semesters after filming a professor who called Donald Trump’s election an “act of terrorism.” The student’s suspension has since been rescinded, but signs were posted outside of the classrooms that prohibited recording lecturers without their permission.
