Madison Rexroat

Five years after Trayvon Martin was shot and killed at age 17, he will receive an honorary, posthumous bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science from Florida Memorial University.

FMU, which was the school Martin’s mother attended, is a historically black college and the headquarters of The Trayvon Martin Foundation. The degree will honor Martin’s passion for flying. Martin would be 22 years old this year.

Martin’s parents will accept the degree this Saturday, May 13, at FMU’s commencement ceremony.
