Defensive coordinator Matt House and select defensive players took the podium Wednesday after their practice, reflecting on the Florida win and looking ahead to game three against Murray State.

House said one of his favorite things about this team is that they love the process and called Wednesday’s practice “great” and “high energy.” He said that’s the key to having a great season, in his opinion.

Regarding Kentucky’s win over Florida, House said what he liked most about his guys was how hard they played.

“I think they played really hard,” House said. “Good thing is, we can play a lot cleaner, and that’s encouraging. There are several details, whether it be a blitz pass, a coverage, I think our football position can get better.”

Kash Daniel was a hot topic of conversation— not only because he’s leading the SEC in tackles through the first two weeks, but because of his post-Florida win celebration when he did his best Stone Cold Steve Austin impersonation. The video has 1.2 million views on Twitter.

“Honestly it was kind of spur of the moment, but it was also kind of thought out at the same time. Like I’ve always wanted to do that,” Kash said.

His teammate and SEC defensive player of the week Josh Allen enjoyed it almost as much as Daniel did.

“Every time I’ve seen on Twitter or Instagram I’ve commented on it,” Allen said. “Kash, he did something special there. That was lit.”

As the Cats are preparing to take on Murray State Saturday, House shared what he’s seen on film of the Racers’ offense so far.

“They test you in space, they throw the ball around, they’ve got big splits to create creases in the run game, multiple formations, and I think they’re a really good screen team,” House said.

Daniel said his team isn’t going to guarantee anything, but they’re confident that they can go 3-0.

“What we can promise is that we’re going to come out and compete, just like we have the past two games. We’re really looking forward to the challenge,” Daniel said.
