Kentucky men’s basketball earned its sixth transfer portal commit of the offseason on Monday afternoon as Joe Tipton of On3 Sports reported that three-star Miami (OH) transfer Reece Potter has committed to the Wildcats.
Potter, a 7-foot-1 center, spent the past two seasons as a Redhawk, averaging six points, three rebounds and 1.1 assists through 26 games and 11 starts his freshman year, while averaging 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists through 30 games played this past year as a sophomore.
Over the course of two seasons with the Redhawks, Potter shot a combined 45.4% from the field and 39.8% from beyond the 3-point arch.
Potter, a Lexington native, played high school hoops at Lexington Catholic and graduated in 2023. Once entering his name in the portal on March 24 after two years with the Redhawks, Potter received interest from North Carolina, Washington, UConn and others before ultimately choosing to come back and play in his old Kentucky home.
Potter’s best showing of the 2024-25 season came against Sacred Heart on Dec. 22, scoring a career-high 19 points, while also tallying three rebounds and one assist. Potter shot a perfect 8-8 from the field that game and a perfect 3-3 from downtown through 18 minutes played.
Potter joins a Kentucky transfer class that is currently comprised with Denzel Aberdeen (Florida), Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State), Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama), Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh) and Kam Williams (Tulane).
