Kentucky men’s swim and dive finished 20th in the country at the 2025 NCAA national championship this weekend, its highest finish since 2010.
The Cats were led by sophomore Carson Hick, who broke two school records in the event.
He set the first record by becoming the fastest 1,650 freestyle swimmer in Kentucky history with a time of 14:30.35, placing him in sixth place, his highest finish of his NCAA career.
His second program record came in the 500 freestyle, with a time of 4:10.27, placing him 11th nationally.
Junior Levi Sandidge also performed well in the freestyle event, placing eighth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 14:31.08, and finishing 28th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:14.56.
Junior Ryan Merani also had a solid showing, finishing top-25 in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:44.16. He also finished 26th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:41.55.
Fifth-year senior Sam Duncan was Kentucky’s only diver in the event. Duncan finished in 42nd place with a score of 273.90.
After a solid outing in this year’s championship, the Cats will look to place even higher next year.
