Kentucky track and field hit the road Saturday to participate in the Fairgrounds Invitational at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis.
The day started for Kentucky in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, where Maya Anderson won her heat and set a personal best at 8.68 seconds. Alexis Glasco won the finals in the event with a time of 8.28, while fellow Wildcats Kori Martin and Camden Bentley, along with Anderson, placed second, third and sixth respectively.
Aliyah Adams continued her impressive season, landing on the podium at third place in the long jump with an 18-foot-1-inch (5.51-meter) jump.
Following Adams’ podium finish, it was time for the runners to return to the track and take center stage for the rest of the day.
Noel Barlette started it back up for the runners in the women’s mile, placing fourth with a time of 5:00.33.
A pair of Wildcats had a successful showing in the women’s 600-meter run. Jayla Atkinson had the higher finish of the two, finishing sixth with a time of 1:34.38, while Phoebe McCowan finished eighth in the race with a time of 1:36.73.
A’Laji Bradley brought home the second first place finish of the day, this time in the women’s 400-meter dash, recording a time of 56.38 seconds.
Another first place finish came for the Cats in the women’s 800-meter run when Cha’iel Johnson finished with a time of 2:11.24.
Elly Heine kept the successful finishes coming with another podium finish, this time in the women’s 3,000-meter run. Heine finished with a time of 10:05.39, good enough for third. Baylor Wolfe finished ninth and Brooke Berger finished 14th in the event as well.
Alex Alston closed out the day for UKTF in the men’s 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:29.63, good enough for fourth.
The Wildcats will return to action on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, in Clemson, South Carolina, at the Tiger Paw Invite, while distance runners will participate in the David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston on the same days.
