No. 22 Kentucky women’s soccer (10-3-4, 2-3-4 SEC) fell to No. 6 Mississippi State (14-1, 8-0 SEC) by a score of 1-0.
The Cats’ offense started cold as they failed to register a single shot in the first half of the match.
Mississippi State took advantage of the slow start with a goal in the 25th minute by freshman Kennedy Husbands to take a 1-0 lead. The lead would remain for the rest of the half.
The Cats’ defense was solid in the second half as Mississippi State failed to extend its lead for the remainder of the game.
The offense had several chances to tie the match, including a shot on goal by Sophia Mattice in the 57th minute, but none of its attempts were successful.
The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Bulldogs for the rest of the match, giving the Cats their third conference loss of the season.
Kentucky will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 27, as it hosts Tennessee in its regular season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. E.T.
