Kentucky men’s soccer (3-5-5, 2-2-2 Sun Belt) fell 2-1 to Central Florida (5-4-3, 3-3 Sun Belt) in a conference showdown.
After a competitive start to the game, Logan Dorsey gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. The goal was assisted by Josh Gordon and Martin Soereide.
Five minutes after Dorsey’s goal, Drew Hansen knotted the match up at 1-1 in the 38th minute on a goal assisted by Mouhamed Pouye.
Both teams were determined to break the 1-1 tie as the second half got underway when Hansen notched his second goal of the contest in the 53rd minute to push the Knights out front 2-1. The goal was assisted by Anderson Rosa.
The Wildcats put up three shots after the goal by Hansen, but none found the mark.
Thanks to the two-goal effort from the freshman Hansen, the Knights held off the Cats for the rest of the contest in a great defensive effort.
The result marked the second game in a row where the Cats were unable to respond after falling behind.
Now facing back-to-back losses, the Wildcats will return home to the Bell where they will take-on Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 27, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
