Bogus updates appear on MacIntyre’s, Stoops’ Wikipedia pages amid UK coaching search

The Wikipedia pages for Mark Stoops, the defensive coordinator at Florida State University, and Mike MacIntyre, head coach at San Jose State, both potential candidates for UK’s head coaching job, were updated multiple times Tuesday morning, often with bogus information about job offers.

As of noon Tuesday, no one had been offered the head coaching job at UK. Each man’s Wikipedia page included at some point that each had offered and accepted the job at UK on Nov. 27.

Stoops’ page had been updated more than 15 times Tuesday morning, according to Wikipedia’s edit history on the page. Revisions said he had accepted a job at UK and included vulgar language in reference to his potential coaching staff.

Stoops’ page was changed just after 11:50 a.m. to include no information about UK. As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, MacIntyre’s page was revised to include no information about UK.

UPDATE: UK announced just after 3 p.m. Tuesday that Mark Stoops will be the program’s next head football coach.
