Police search for suspect in non-fatal student shooting

Staff Report

Lexington police are investigating the non-fatal shooting of a student that occurred Saturday night.

Paul Daniel Doss, a civil engineering senior, was shot around 7:30 p.m. on Johnston Boulevard.

Doss said a man in a car was verbally fighting with someone when the person in the car pulled a gun and fired three shots into a crowd. One of the bullets found Doss’ right leg. Doss said he didn’t know either person involved in the fight.

He was taken to the hospital and was able to walk out under his own power later that night and said he was “doing fine.”

Lt. James Curless of Lexington police said investigators are talking to witnesses trying to identify a suspect described as a younger black male.
