SAB brings ‘hard-core belly laughs’ to students

One of comedian RETTA’s fondest memories of college was seeing her headshot in chicken baskets.

“Doing a college gig in Arkansas, instead of table tents to promote the show in the cafeteria, they made copies of my headshot and stuck them in empty KFC buckets,” RETTA said in an interview on Comedy Central’s Web site, (www.comedycentral.com).

RETTA, who has been featured on VH1, Comedy Central and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” will perform Thursday night at 7 at the Memorial Hall amphitheater as part of the Student Activities Board annual comedy series Laughs on the Lawn. Admission is free.

“Laughs on the Lawn is an event that we put on which features comedians from around the country,” said Ben VanderHorst, president of SAB. “It is a very unique atmosphere. You don’t typically get to see comedy outside.”

Students can look forward to this event once a month as a way to escape the tedious routine of classes.

“Laughs on the Lawn is a great outdoor event for students to enjoy,” said Natalie Thomerson, director of pop culture for SAB. ”The comedians lined up for the series will provide students with hard-core belly laughs, which helps students relieve stress from their busy schedules.”
