LIVE BLOG: UK vs. Missouri-St. Louis — pre-game

Welcome everybody to the first live blog of the UK basketball season. Tonight I’ll be bringing you live updates from the UK-University of Missouri-St. Louis game at Rupp Arena. Tonight’s game will be one of two exhibition games the Cats will have before officially tipping the regular season off against the Virginia Military Institute.

As is the case with most exhibition games, the most important thing will be how the Cats play – not the final outcome of the score. Beyond the leadership of Patrick Patterson, Jodie Meeks, Ramon Harris and Perry Stevenson, this team is loaded with question marks, most notably the point guard situation. With the departures of guards Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford, there’s really no telling at this point who will be driving the offense.

At UK’s media day, Gillispie hinted that junior guard Jodie Meeks could see some significant time at the one. Meeks has been used primarily as a shooting guard during his two years in Lexington so keep an eye out for how he does tonight if he switches over to the lead guard position. Highly touted freshman DeAndre Liggins could get some time at the point as well as junior Michael Porter and even junior-college transfer Kevin Galloway.

UK just released their starters. Here they are, in no particular order:

Patrick Patterson

Jodie Meeks

Ramon Harris

Michael Porter

Perry Stevenson

Plenty of good seats still available here at Rupp if you feel like making a last-minute trip down here. About the crowd you would expect for an exhibition game. That’s all I have for now. I’ll have more in just a little bit.
