Blazer’s inviting atmosphere ruined with TV addition

When I walked into Blazer Café last night for dinner, I was appalled at the shiny new flat screens on the wall playing mtvU. To me, Blazer has always been the best dining hall on campus for food, service and atmosphere. In the past, my friends and I have loved meeting at Blazer to enjoy good food while taking pleasure in each other’s company by actually looking at each other.

Televisions, even when you don’t care or even like what is on them, are distracting to conversation and, inevitably, everyone’s eyes end up on them. I do not want my Blazer dining experience to turn into the Commons dining experience where everyone gazes at the TVs while ignoring all other life.

In my experience last night, the food and service at Blazer had remained the same, thank goodness, but because of the TVs, the atmosphere that made Blazer such a special place was gone. Steps should be taken to restore the greatness of Blazer and remove the TVs.
