Pingpong balls rained down on students waiting below at Patterson Office Tower on Thursday.

The fifth annual Student Activities Board Little Kentucky Derby kicked off without a hitch. More than 3,000 pingpong balls were launched from the top of POT, with hundreds of students looking to catch as many as they could.

People scrambled for the falling pingpong balls in hopes of catching one to be returned for prizes ranging from a cup full of pingpong balls, a green bag of surprises and Drake concert tickets.

Along with the pingpong ball drop, SAB offered snacks and games to waiting students.

The Little Kentucky Derby festivities will continue Friday  with a balloon glow, including a concert and carnival-style activities.
