The UK baseball team climbed the rankings in various polls Monday afternoon after winning their weekend series with Tennessee.

The Cats rose one spot to No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, the second highest ranked SEC team behind unanimous No. 1, Florida.

They saw a more dramatic increase in the Baseball America Poll, where they moved up six spots to No. 10. It’s the second time in program history that UK is ranked in the top-10 by Baseball America, joining the 2006 team that got to No. 8, according to a UK Athletics news release.

In other news, junior catcher Luke Maile will be featured in this week’s Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd.” The magazine will hit newsstands on Wednesday.
