Julius Mays is a 6-foot-2, 192-pound transfer graduate student guard from Marion, Ind. He played two seasons at North Carolina State and competed last season for Wright State.

He averaged 14.1 points-per-game, and earned second-team All Horizon League honors for Wright State in 2011-12.

Mays averaged 18.1 points-per-game his senior season at Marion High School, hitting 44.3 percent of his 3-point shots.

“Great kid who had performed at a high level, that could make baskets – especially jump-shots,” UK head coach John Calipari said about Mays. “He wanted to be a part of this and understood what it meant. He knew what he was walking in to.”

Mays spoke with the Kernel in early September about being both new to UK and being an experienced leader as well as his expectations for the upcoming season.
