Roads around Health Sciences Research Building reopened after nitric acid leak

UK public relations issued an alert on Saturday with reports of a chemical leak at 1095 Veterans Dr.
A nitric acid spill in a health lab at the Health Sciences Research Building saw the building evacuated and surrounding streets closed.
Veterans Dr. and University Dr. between Huguelet Dr. and Complex Dr were closed until shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.
UK said that the chemical leak was contained to the lab, but advised that all members of the public avoid the area.
Officials from the Lexington Hazardous Materials Division were called to the scene.
