The Morris Book Shop will either close or be sold to a new owner after opening about eight years ago.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported on Tuesday owner Wyn Morris is looking to sell or close the independent book shop after owning the store for eight years.

“I don’t feel any sense of failure, because so much has gone right,” Morris said to the Herald-Leader. “We’ve had a great run with doing events and community outreach and all that kind of stuff.”

In May, Morris told the Kentucky Kernel the current Morris Book Shop opened in 2008 on Southland Drive and moved to High Street in 2011. Morris said the original Morris Book Shop opened in Lexington during the 1930’s and closed in the 1970’s after changing owners a few times.
