Kentucky’s basketball team will be rolling into the new season with some new duds.
As part of the university’s partnership with Nike and the overhall to its sports image, UK revealed the new basketball uniforms for the upcoming season Wednesday via a picture from the UK Equipment Staff Twitter account. The image displays senior forward Derek Willis’ jersey as the showcase example.
The new uniforms will feature the UK checkerboard print down each side of the tops and the shorts. The blue collar of the uniform is meant to pay homage to Kentucky’s blue-collar background. The new “UK” design will also be featured on each uniform.
UK revealed the plan to change the sports teams’ jerseys, starting with the football program, last February. It was also revealed that the basketball team will wear a unique, all-blue uniform for its road game at South Carolina on Feb. 13.
