Best Friend Bar is the place to be on Halloween weekend, with spooktastic costumes, bloodcurdling music and scarylicious burritos.

Best Friend Bar will be hosting a Halloween concert event on Sunday, Oct. 30 where different bands will play the tunes of their favorite artists. Warren Byrom & The Fabled Canelands will cover The Kinks, Street Gnar & Co. will cover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Beat Awfuls will cover The Lemonheads and Dad will cover an assortment of artists.

Tim Small, Shayne Bates and Seth Brewer opened Best Friend Bar in Sep. 2014 and just celebrated the bar’s two-year anniversary. The building has been home to many bars dating back to the 1970’s.

According to Small, him and his two best friends Bates and Brewer were looking to continue the legacy of the building when they opened Best Friend Bar on 500 E Euclid Ave.

“Best Friend Bar is a part of the neighborhood, it is a neighborhood bar open to the Lexington community and a popular spot for University of Kentucky students,” said Small.

According to Byrom, his band performed at BFB last year for Halloween as well with another special show where the group covered legendary rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Byrom said he’s always wanted to do a Kinks tribute and play the album “Arthur” in its entirety. He also said they will be mixing it up a bit with songs from the records “Village Green” and “Something Else” along with a couple of early classics as well. Byrom added that the band will be dressed “dedicated followers of fashion” for the event.

“I love Best Friend Bar, they’re the sweetest. I love playing there because there’s no separation between band and audience. They also have the best burritos in town,” Byrom said.

According to Small, “Halloween is one of our biggest weekends.” Best Friend Bar will also be hosting a “Scaryoke night” on Saturday.

“The bar is a place where people can come as who they are and Halloween is when they can come as who they are not,” said Small.
