Uber partnering with pilot hospital transportation program
November 9, 2016
Uber is teaming up with Boston-based company Circulation to provide nonemergency transportation to low income patients, according to USA Today College.
The program is currently being piloted at Boston Children’s Hospital. Since Boston is a town with several local colleges, the program could, if successful, extend to other colleges in the nation.

To use this program, patients call an UberX or UberXL when they need to visit a doctor, and they can add customizable options like wheelchair access or personal assistance. The software coordinators then notify physicians of a patient’s arrival.
The program is meant to provide an alternative to traditionally expensive medical transportation at all levels. It also hopes to change the way students address their symptoms and encourage them to get help when they need it.
