Five people were arrested Wednesday night at a Trump protest at WKU, according to a report by the Herald Leader. Charges were failure to disperse and second-degree disorderly conduct.

The campus police were called after university housing workers reported that the crowd was starting to get out of control. The university had been notified of the planned protest and it was peaceful when officials arrived. However, tension began to rise and bottles were thrown so the police were notified.

After the arrests, the protest continued peacefully.

Similar protests have occurred at universities and in cities across the nation. A candlelight vigil hosted by UK’s Panhellenic Council was held Wednesday night outside of the Patterson Office Tower on UK’s campus.

Universities nationwide continue to promote calm discourse and diversity while still encouraging unity among students.
