For the last 10 years UK has held the annual student employee of the year awards.

The event, put on by UK’s Human Resources Student Employment Office, highlights student employees who excel in their commitment to his or her work on campus.

Each student is nominated by their supervisor, and the 10 best are chosen out of roughly 50 applicants.

A banquet and dinner is held in their honor and the winner of the award receives a gift basket.

In order to be nominated a student has to be in a work-study or be an hourly paid student employee at UK.

The student must have also completed or is expected to complete at least six months of part-time or three months of full-time employment on or before April 2017.

Students may not be employees of the UK Human Resources Student Employment Office, and students must be in an undergraduate degree program and enrolled in at least half-time credits for both the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.

UK sophomore Melissa White, the student placement associate for UK student employment, gave the details on how supervisors can nominate students in an interview.

“You can submit nominations by going to the UK employment homepage, and the ribbon banner that’s scrolling across the second image is of the banquet last year and there’s a link embedded to submit applications,” White said.

The deadline for nominations is March 17 by 5 p.m.

If supervisors have any questions they can contact Donna Cornett, the UK jobs supervisor.

For more information you can reach Cornett at [email protected] or by phone at 859-257-9554.

This year’s event will be April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hilary J. Boone Center.
