UberEATS joins the Lexington delivery scene

Uber has been a staple for college students in Lexington since it began services here in 2014. Although Uber is still used in many Lexington lives on a daily basis, the excitement around the app seems to have died down.

The newest craze by Uber is the UberEATS app, which has finally landed here in Lexington. Curiosity has been speculating to see if the app was as great as people claimed it was, therefore, we decided to take manners into our own hands. Prepare for your lazy nights at home to get even lazier with UberEATS, bringing you even more options for food delivery.

The first step to UberEATS is to download the free app. Once the app is able to be accessed, UberEATS immediately offers the user to login through any previous Uber accounts he or she have had. Once one has created their account, it will direct the user to the UberEATS home page. The layout of the app is extremely easy to use and navigate.

There are several different ways to pick the food you want to order. The most fascinating option was the “under 30 minutes” category  which shows you restaurants nearby that will prepare your food and get it to you through UberEATS in under 30 minutes. The other options included popular near you and new on UberEATS. There is also a dietary tab for consumers who are looking for vegetarian, vegan or gluten free options, which are great options to have to satisfy consumers. Each restaurant featured on the app shows the approximate time it would take for your food to arrive.

After perusing the app, the final decision was to try a dessert dish from Panchitos Ice Cream. One of their most popular dishes is called a Mangonada, which is Mango sorbet with a sweet sauce topped with chopped mangos and chili powder. The “under 30 minutes” category is no joke; the order was delivered within 15 minutes, and through the whole wait time users have the ability to track down its status through the app.

Once the order was received, the initial presentation of the Mangonada didn’t quite live up to its image on UberEATS.The dish itself was very good and it was impressive that the sorbet was not melted at all.

When it comes down to it, the whole UberEATS experience was an eight out of ten. The overall setup of the app was very well laid out, and UberEATS allows users to view all the choices offered depending on their approximate location. The delivery process was speedy and it was easy to keep track of any orders location through the app’s GPS system. The Mangonada turned out to be very tasty and it seemed to be another case of  “don’t judge a book by its cover.”

UberEATS was very sufficient and definitely lived up to its purpose. It easily gets the job done and it was pretty clear to see what all the hype was about. It’s an easy and sufficient app to use, and it is an app that should be highly recommended to all. You give it a try for yourself the next time you want to get food delivered to your house, and you can see it for yourself.
