A community dance club is gaining popularity among people of all ages across Lexington, including UK students.

LexSwing Dance is a community driven dance club that offers a welcoming place for people to come show off their dance moves or learn new ones from talented instructors.

People of all different ages attend the classes, whether they are young professionals who just moved to Lexington, parents accompanied by their children, or retirees searching for a new hobby. LexSwing continues to gain college students, who are filling many of its Monday night classes.

LexSwing is conveniently located near several colleges in the Lexington area.

LexSwing’s mission is to build and sustain a dance community through the joy and preservation of swing dance culture.

Emily Williams, one of the founding members of LexSwing, described the club as “a community dance club that is community driven.”

“We get a lot of feedback from our members,” Williams said. “There’s a lot of involvement from our members so it is very community based.”

The club is using feedback to improve and attract new members.

LexSwing is available for people of all different dance levels, from beginners just learning how to dance to experienced dancers.

Every Monday, LexSwing hosts a free beginners lesson from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by a social dance from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. LexSwing is also currently offering a Swing Camp, which is a three to four hour long class on the third Saturday of every month.
