Kale: A superfood to rule them all

Belle Kendrick

Kale as a superfood? The leafy vegetable is the one superfood to rule them all. Being one of the most nutrient-dense foods filled with powerful antioxidants, kale should clearly be in everyone’s diet.

Although it may not be a fan favorite at first, people find the health benefits of kale to outweigh the first impression flavor and texture you get. Kale is one of those foods that you either love or you hate. Fortunately for me, I have a new found love for kale.

Even though people don’t usually have a great first impression of the veggie, it’s something that could help make your life healthier. Aside from being full of nutrients and antioxidants, kale is low in calorie, but high in iron, Vitamin C and Vitamin K. The health benefits of kale outweigh the reasons to not eat it.

After knowing all of the short and long term health benefits of kale, there is no reason that you shouldn’t at least try it. It is an important superfood that has the possibility to renovate your health.

The problem most people have with kale is its flavor and texture. When eating a kale salad, unless you use the correct dressing, it can be unpleasant to say the least; the texture is just hard to get used to.

If you just can’t get used to the flavor or texture of this green, a good way to add it into your everyday diet is with smoothies. Smoothies are a great way to sneak some healthy foods into your diet. Instead of just flat out eating a kale salad, you can incorporate kale into any kind of smoothie to hide the taste of it, while getting the same health benefits.

No matter whose side you’re on, kale is a superfood that is worthy of all the uproar it has produced. Kale can give you benefits that you can get from other foods all in one, which is one of the best reasons to give it a try.
