After the release of the trailer for the upcoming Han Solo film, one initial reaction came to mind at first.

I may be excited for it, but I still have a bad feeling about it.

The visual effects and camera work are very appealing. The visuals in the movie resemble Rogue One with the grittier tone.

On the other hand, the dialogue presented is what you’d expect from a 1-minute TV Teaser.

Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, looks as though he is young again. His dialogue sounds like what a young Harrison Ford would say. Han Solo’s early background is of being a former Imperial Academy Cadet who was kicked out, like in the original extended universe.

Chewbacca makes a brief appearance as well, yet he is not entirely centered in the trailer. But it was good to see him alongside Solo, but unclear if they are already companions at this point.

Qi’Ra, played by Emilia Clarke makes several appearances in the trailer, stating, “I may be the only person who knows what you really are.” Her words were intriguing and shows her brief appearances on screen. Qi’Ra is by far the newest character I am most excited to see.

Along with that, the most exciting character to make a return has to be Lando Calrissian, the man who double crossed Solo many years later. Played by Donald Glover, his appearance is by far more brief but more impactful than Ehrenreich’s.

My immediate reaction when he appeared in the trailer was that it’s Lando but younger, rather than resembling his older counterpart. If all goes well, we will see the transfer of the Falcon from Lando to Han in the movie.

From production issues to the firing of the first two directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, this gives me a bad feeling, but the teaser trailer showcases golden scenes for the movie that can give fans something to be excited for.

Along with that, it was interesting how the parts of the movie I am most excited for that were featured in the trailer weren’t of Han Solo. Woody Haralson’s character who appears to hire Solo, the mysterious group of masked figures on the desert, and Thandrie Newton’s character, Val, all have brief appearances.

Even l3-37, the new droid companion (who’s name is a reference to LEET, an old tech nerd term) played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, manages to outshine the main character Han Solo.

However, despite these issues, Solo’s teaser trailer shows promise and could give fans a new hope.
