Kernel Staff

The Kentucky Kernel is not just a publication but an experience. Day in and day out, the students who work at the Kernel learn skills that prepare them for their future careers.

Students who walk through the door of the Kernel newsroom get a front row seat to everything happening at the University of Kentucky. Our students cover UK sports, profile leaders on campus, report on university administration and more. Kernel alumni have gone on to amazing careers, with Kernel alumni in newsrooms at the Washington Post, New York Times, Lexington Herald-Leader and many more across the country. The Kernel also has alumni who went on to non-journalism careers, but still found their footing at the Kernel.

We are asking for your help to secure the Kernel’s future. This fall, we are launching the inaugural Kernel General Excellence Fund so that we can continue developing our students into professionals.

The Kernel creates a valuable foundation for students to jumpstart their careers after graduation while performing the vital service of journalism at the University of Kentucky. Please donate here today.
