With the NFL Draft approaching in just over a month, former UK football players got a chance to showcase their skills at the annual UK Pro Day in front of NFL scouts at the Nutter Field House and Joe Craft Football Training Facility.

One of the most notable performances came from defensive back Chris Westry. Westry ran unofficial 40-yard dash times 4.31 and 4.35. He matched his speed with his athleticism, jumping for a 38-inch vertical and having a 10’1 broad jump.

Westry, who didn’t get invited to the combine, had 40-yard dash times that matched up with combine invitees who had top times like Mecole Hardman, D.K Metcalf and Terry McLaruin.

“I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Chris. I expect that from Chris,” former UK edge rusher Josh Allen said. “I’m happy for everyone that ran well.”

Fellow cornerback Lonnie Johnson showed some speed too. He had an unofficial 4.39 40-yard dash time.

Several other defenders had some bright moments. Adrian Middleton had a day on the bench press with 30 repetitions. He complemented that with a 28.5-inch vertical jump and an 8’10 broad jump. Tymere Dubose had a 24.5-inch vertical jump and 8’3 broad jump with 18 bench reps.

Offensive lineman Geroge Asafo-Adjei displayed his strength to scouts as well. His 31 reps on the bench were the most among all participants. He also had a 32-inch vertical jump and a 9’1 broad jump.

Another standout offensive lineman flashed some potential. Former All-American Jervontius “Bunchy” Stallings had 24 reps on the bench and a 25-inch vertical jump.

“George and Bunchy had a great day. I’m proud of both of them,” Stoops said.

A pair of wideouts got their shot to showcase themselves. Dorian Baker had a 32-inch vertical jump, 9’4 broad jump and 23 bench reps. Former walk-on David Bouvier had a 31-inch vertical and an 8’9 broad jump.

Allen said he didn’t participate because he already performed at the NFL Combine and wasn’t “going to waste everyone’s time.” Mike Edwards and C.J Conrad will have their own pro day on April 8th when they are medically cleared.

The NFL-hopeful Cats will wait to hear their names called during the draft in Nashville from April 25th-27th.
