Kentucky softball (27-17, 6-9 SEC) dominated Western Kentucky 9-1 with four home runs in a victory that was called in six innings.
The Wildcats had momentum coming off strong wins against Boston just four days before this WKU game.
The driving force of this win was the nine RBIs and four home runs from the Cats.
Starting the mini home run derby was Lauryn Borzilleri, who hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put the Cats up 4-1.
Two innings later, Borzilleri, batting .283, followed up the three-run home run with a solo blast.
The very next at-bat, Hallie Mitchell homered to right field.
The crowd reached a fever pitch at John Cropp Stadium after they just witnessed back-to-back home runs.
The final home run of the evening came with two runners on base for UK and Allie Blum in the batter’s box who came into the game batting .333 on the season.
Blum’s walk off homer brought in Emory Donaldson and Delani Sullivan to end the game in six innings.
It was a win that built up even more momentum that the Cats will need going into their next SEC series versus South Carolina.
Kentucky is sitting at an underwhelming 6-9 in conference play but will have a chance to change.
The next time the Cats will hit the diamond will be on Saturday, April 19, in Columbia, South Carolina against the Gamecocks. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
