Kentucky women’s golf tied for ninth place with Kent State in the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational, posting a two-day total of 877 (+13) through Sunday and Monday.
The Cats finished the first two rounds on Sunday tied for eleventh with a score of 591 (+15).
They were led by sophomore Cathryn Brown, who continued her dominant start to the spring season with a total score of 137 (-7) through the first two rounds, landing her in first place going into Monday.
Brown finished the event in third with a total score of 212 (-4).
The team had its best collective performance of the event in the final round on Monday with a total score of 286 (-2).
Senior Marta Lopez Echevarria (69) and freshman Anastasia Hekkonen (71) led the way in the final round as they both had their best rounds of the event and shot under par.
Lopez Echevarria’s final round was just her third round in the 60s of her entire college career, leading her to 29th place in the final standings with a score of 220 (+4).
Hekkonen tied for 42nd in the final standings with a score of 223 (+7).
Freshman Karlie Campbell also had a strong showing in the final round with six birdies on the day, more than any of her teammates recorded the entire week. She finished the event tied for 55th with a score of 225 (+9).
Kentucky will be back in action at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina, beginning on March 3.
