Kentucky STUNT opened its fourth varsity season with a 4-0 sweep during its Bluegrass Classic with a pair of victories on Saturday and Sunday.
UK’s Saturday victories came from a 23-2 win versus Trevecca Nazarene in game one followed by a 24-0 victory over UT Martin.
In the first two quarters versus Trevecca Nazarene, partner stunts and pyramids and tosses, the Cats took the lead 7-1 by the half, taking all four points in the first quarter and three the next.
The second half of the game followed the same rhythm, with UK taking four points alongside Trevecca Nazarene’s one in the jumps and tumbling quarter, followed by the Cats putting away the game with a 12-point sweep in the last quarter – team routine.
UK’s win in game two against UT Martin was a perfect game, being the third such game in program history.
Day two of the Bluegrass Classic brought a pair of 23-0 victories versus Mercyhurst and Northern Kentucky.
Game one showed the Wildcats securing an early lead against Mercyhurst by taking all four points in the first quarter, followed by the same sweep in the second.
The third quarter followed suit, where all four points went to the Cats. In the fourth, however, the Cats fell just short of another perfect game, taking 11 points to wrap up the match.
The last game of the doubleheader reversed UK’s pattern from the first, where the Wildcats took three points in the first quarter, followed by four each in the second and third quarters and a final 12 out of 12 possible points in the final.
Kentucky STUNT will hit the road on Sunday, Feb. 9, to face off in a doubleheader against Central Michigan and Alma.
