Kentucky rugby officially kicked off the National Collegiate Rugby playoffs as the Cats had a matchup against the Saint Joseph’s Hawks.
Kentucky would ultimately win the quarterfinal matchup 63-17.
With the win, Kentucky continued its dominance as it is currently on the journey to become back-to-back champions.
Going back-to-back is no easy task as the Cats had to face a scary Saint Joseph’s offense. Entering the game, one worry the Cats had was dealing with the fast-paced Hawks.
Despite that, Kentucky had no fear and stepped up when it mattered the most to ultimately advance to the semifinals in the playoffs.
The Cats’ kicking game was accurate and aggressive throughout the entire game against the Hawks.
There are only four teams remaining in the playoffs, so the chances of a championship increase with each victory the Cats obtain while participating in the playoffs.
All in all, national title hopes are still alive for the Cats if they stay focused and take it one game at a time.
Head Coach Sam Enari already has one career national championship under his belt, so he knows what it takes to work for one national championship. Now the question is simply whether his squad has what it takes for two straight.
The Kentucky Wildcats will be back in action against Massachusetts on Dec. 7 with kickoff being at 11 a.m. ET. The winner will meet either Virginia Tech or Bowling Green.
