Kentucky men’s soccer goalkeeper Ryan Jack was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, marking the second time in his collegiate career he earned the honor.
The announcement of Jack’s winning made him the first men’s soccer player to receive two awards back-to-back since 2020, having earned his first DPotW last week.
“He is someone that consistently comes every single day, he’s a positive force in the locker room, he works really hard on the training field, and he’s done really well,” Head Coach Cedergren said.
Jack has a record of 2-1-3 after the toss-up against Bradley on Tuesday. He also has four shoutouts within six games.
“I think he is a fantastic goalkeeper and has done really well for us this year,” Cedergren said.
Jack’s game against Bradley would mark his sixth consecutive match this season. He earned his fourth clean sheet from the Monarchs in the previous game against Old Dominion.
While Jack has hardly been rewarded for his strong play up to this point, he has kept Kentucky in its draws and played a key role in its victories.
Jack will once again be integral as the Wildcats will be away this weekend at James Madison before also traveling to an away game at Central Florida.
