Kentucky women’s basketball officially released the full schedule for the 2024-25 season, featuring teams it rarely sees marked on the calendar and some familiar faces that the Wildcats will seek revenge against.
Before the beginning of the season, fans will be able to see the new-look Cats in action at Big Blue Madness on Friday, Oct. 11, and the Blue-White preseason game on Friday, Oct. 18, inside the renovated Historic Memorial Coliseum.
Kentucky will start the season with five-straight home games, beginning with USC Upstate on Monday, Nov. 4, Northern Kentucky on Thursday, Nov. 7, Wofford on Tuesday, Nov. 12, the rival Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, Nov. 16, and the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons on Monday, Nov. 18.
After losing against the Louisville Cardinals 73-61 last season at the KFC Yum! Center, the Wildcats will look to start the season off with a rivalry win and a 5-0 season start for the first time since 2022.
Kentucky will compete in its first road game as a part of the second annual SEC/ACC challenge against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday, Dec. 5. The game will be the first matchup between the two since the 2018-19 season, where Kentucky won 85-75. Prior to that, their last meeting was in the 2001-02 season.
The Cats will then travel back home to host Queens on Monday, Dec. 9, and will head back on the road to West Lafayette, Indiana, to take on the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Purdue and UK have only faced off twice, dating back to 1999 and 2000, right after Purdue’s national championship.
To round off non-conference play before the SEC schedule, Kentucky will host Belmont on Friday, Dec. 20, and Western Kentucky on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Kentucky then begins conference play against Mississippi State inside Historic Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, Jan. 2, before going on the road for four out of its next five games.
The road stint includes Vanderbilt on Sunday, Jan. 5, Florida on Thursday, Jan. 9, a quick return home to host Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 12, Georgia on Sunday, Jan. 19, and Texas A&M on Thursday, Jan. 23.
To finish the month of January, the Wildcats will host the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday, Jan. 26, and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday, Jan. 30.
After a quick turn around, a brand new member of the SEC, the Oklahoma Sooners, will host the Wildcats on Sunday, Feb. 2. Kentucky will then travel to Oxford, Mississippi, after an eight-day break to face Ole Miss on Monday, Feb. 10.
The next two home games feature another new SEC team, the Texas Longhorns, on Thursday, Feb. 13, and the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday, Feb. 16.
The home stretch of the SEC schedule features matchups at Missouri on Thursday, Feb. 20, a home game against the LSU Tigers on Sunday, Feb. 23, a home game against the Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday, Feb. 27, and the final game of the year against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, March 2.
This year, the SEC Tournament will be held in the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, from March 5-9.
While times, dates and channels are still being worked out, on thing is for certain: the 2024-25 season is set to deliver a(n) exciting, fresh and new program to take court for Kentucky.
