Kentucky football head coach Mark Stoops announced that freshman wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV will miss some time with injury.
“Hardley will be out for a decent bit, I’m not sure how long, it’ll be at least mid-season or more,” Stoops said.
While Stoops disclosed the length of time Gilmore will be out, he did not specify what the injury was.
The consensus four-star recruit out of Belle Glade, Florida, gained a lot of attention as a name that stuck out in fall camp to potentially earn more playing time than expected this upcoming season.
Gilmore garnering attention did not come as a surprise as he was one of the top 45 wide receivers in the class of 2024 per On3.
Looking at the position as a whole, Gilmore’s absence should not have a large effect.
“We got good depth at that position,” Stoops said. “I really believe in the guys we have.”
Unfortunately for the promising wide receiver, he will have to wait a little bit longer before making his Wildcat debut.
Kentucky football will kick off its 2024 season at home on Saturday, August 31, against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The game is set to begin at 7:45 p.m. ET and will air live on the SEC Network.
