Kentucky rifle posted a score of 4,730 in the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday, finishing the regular season with a strong score with hopes that it can provide momentum for the postseason.
On what was senior day for the Wildcats, it was a freshman who stole the show as Braden Peiser achieved his career-high scores in both smallbore and air rifle.
Kentucky started with a score of 2,347 in smallbore after being led by Peiser, who scored a 593. Seniors Emmie Sellers and Jaden Thompson would place third and fourth on the team with scores of 586 and 579, respectively.
In air rifle, Kentucky posted a score of 2,383. As in smallbore, Peiser again led the Cats with a score of 598, while Sellers and Thompson would place third and fourth with scores of 595 and 594.
Kentucky coach Harry Mullins thought it was a great day for the Wildcats, showing lots of praise for his squad while also looking ahead to the postseason.
“What a great Saturday on the range, honoring Jaden and Emmie and putting together a good score in the process.” Mullins said to UK Athletics. “Looking forward to another week of training and getting after it next weekend at the GARC Championships.”
Kentucky will be in action Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25, competing in the Great America Rifle Conference Championships hosted by Army in West Point, New York.
