The full stands of Rupp Arena erupted with excitement to conclude “excite night” as fifth-year-senior Raena Worley sprinted through the crowd and straight into her parents arms after wrapping up the Cats’ home opener with her first score of a perfect 10 on the floor.
The Wildcats finished with a score of 197.950 to 195.650, kicking off the start to their home schedule for the season against the Georgia Bulldogs.
“The feeling of a ten is surreal,” Worley expressed post meet with tears in her eyes and a permanent smile. “Being a part of this team, there is never a moment where it doesn’t feel like family.”
The night was special not just for Worley, but it was an exceptional night for Kentucky gymnastics as a whole as it made history with multiple program records being broken.
“It’s so special to see how the sport, especially at Kentucky, has continued to make history,” Worley said.
Worley started off the night strong on the vault, receiving a 9.900, and carried her confidence directly over to the bars and the beam, earning a 9.850.
Receiving the top score of the meet, Worley concluded her night, ending with a 39.600.
Before the meet, Worley had tallied 17 individual floor wins and 20 career all-around wins as a Wildcat as she continues to make history meet by meet.
Worley and the Wildcats will return to action next for an SEC matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide on February 2 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
