The craziest week in college basketball thus far has come to an end with many of the nation’s top teams taking losses.
Each loss has caused a great deal of movement within the week five AP Poll with four teams dropping seven or more spots.
Following Saturday’s loss to UNC Wilmington, Kentucky fell four spots to No. 16 in the AP Poll, the spot where the Wildcats were ranked to begin the preseason.
The Wildcats sit one spot behind the Miami Hurricanes, who they beat during the ACC/SEC Challenge just a week ago.
Kentucky is the highest ranked SEC team in the week five poll with two other teams joining it.
No. 17 Tennessee (4-3) sits just one spot behind the Wildcats, dropping seven after a tough loss to No. 9 North Carolina.
Kentucky will face off against North Carolina in a few short weeks on Dec. 16 in the CBS Sports Classic in Atlanta.
The third and final SEC team to make the top 25 was the Texas A&M Aggies, who sit at 6-2 after an ugly 59-47 loss to unranked Virginia.
Those three teams are the only currently ranked teams remaining on the Wildcats schedule, though that may change as Kentucky will face off against Alabama, Arkansas and South Carolina, all of which received votes.
Kentucky will look to rebound from its loss and climb in the AP Poll this Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon ET in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia against UPenn.
