The look of the UK men’s basketball team continues to change.

On Tuesday, UK Athletics said scholarship players A.J. Stewart, Donald Williams and Jared Carter will not return to the team for the 2009-10 season.

Stewart and Williams will be looking to continue their basketball careers at other schools. Stewart averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds during his sophomore campaign, while Williams did not find playing time during his freshman season.

Carter, a senior from Georgetown, Ky., will not seek a fifth year with the Cats after sitting out much of his sophomore season due to a shoulder injury.

“I’ve enjoyed my experience at UK and will remember all the people and players I’ve met along the way, especially Mr. Keightley,” Carter said in a statement released by UK Athletics. “I’m looking forward to moving on with my life and am excited to see what professional opportunities await me.”

The NCAA allows a maximum of 13 scholarships per team. After six recruits signed letters of intent to play for the Cats, UK was over that allotment.

With Stewart, Williams and Carter deciding to not continue their careers at UK, the Cats are closer to the 13-scholarship limit but more changes will be coming.
