“Halloween II”- Horror/Action/Adventure- Rated R- 1 hour & 41 minutes

The Plot: Rob Zombie’s “Halloween II” will pick up where Zombie’s “Halloween” remake left off, following Michael Myers’ sister as she deals with psychological trauma following her epic battle with her serial killer brother.

The Buzz: Rob Zombie’s remake of the original “Halloween” added new insight into the personality of the terrifying serial killer Michael.  Expect this sequel to add even more character insight to the “Halloween” franchise, focusing on the relationship between Michael, his sister and their shared psychological problems.

“Taking Woodstock”- Comedy/Musical- Rated R- 1 hour & 50 minutes

The Plot: Based on the true story of Elliot Tiber, a young man who helped bring Woodstock to fruition after concert organizers failed to find a place to hold the historic music festival.

The Buzz: Based on the memoir by Tiber, and Director Ang Lee’s first film since “Milk,” “Taking Woodstock” gives Lee an opportunity to again focus on themes of sexuality, since Tiber came out in the weeks leading up to Woodstock. But it’s unsure whether the story is engaging enough and if newcomer actor Demetri Martin, better known for his stand-up, can handle the lead role.

“The Final Destination”- Horror/Suspense/Thriller- Rated R- 1 hour & 22 minutes

The Plot: The fourth film in the “Final Destination” franchise recycles the basic plot. This time, one person’s premonition of a deadly racecar crash, which saves the life of his friend, creates a chain reaction of death, collecting the survivors in the order they were originally meant to die.

The Buzz: As the fourth movie in a franchise in which its appeal comes from the way it creatively kills its characters, “Snakes on a Plane” Director David R. Ellis, who also directed “Final Destination 2,” seems like the right fit for director of this campy movie. While the plot is recycled like a mad lib story, fans of the “Final Destination” movies should enjoy this newest installment. Expect a better gore experience in theaters showing 3D.

Showing Locations: Cinemark Fayette Mall (in 3D), Cinemark Movies 10, Lexington Movie Tavern.
