A water main break at the dorm construction site by Haggin Hall caused the water to be shut off for Haggin and Donovan halls until about 1:30 p.m., when the water was restored, UK spokeswoman Gail Hairston said.

The Food Storage Center, Kelley Building and K-Lair were also affected.

Arrangements were made for students to use restrooms at the W.T. Young Library and to shower at the Johnson Center during the break.

Since the repair was made, Kentucky American Water Company has issued a Water Boil Advisory, to be in effect for 24 hours, Hairston said. Water bottles are available at the desks of the affected residence halls.

K Lair Restaurant will also be closed until Jan. 18, due to minor flooding that resulted from the break, Hairston said.
