UK men’s soccer will be in action on Saturday to take on the Butler Bulldogs at the UK Soccer Complex.

This marks the third game of the Cats’ six-game spring schedule and the second home game of the slate.

UK debuted Saturday with a doubleheader against Southern Indiana and Georgetown College.

Butler finished last season 5-8-5 to go along with an Atlantic 10 record of 3-5-1, as senior Justin Sass was invited to participate in the InfoSport Pro Soccer Combine in Florida from January 8-10.

Sophomores Zach Steinberger and Brandon Fricke, as well as freshman Jeff Adkins each earned a spot on the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team.

UK had an impressive season in 2012, reaching a 10-9-2 record and an NCAA tournament appearance for the first time in nine seasons as first-year head coach Johan Cedergren took the helm.

The Cats were bounced from the first round of the NCAA tournament by No. 19 Xavier, 1-0.

The team will continue to try to find a way to compensate for departing senior midfielders Gabriel Conelian, Matt Lodge, Charley Pettys and Cameron Wilder, and defensemen Jacob Kemper and Byron Vega.

Senior forward Tyler Riggs led the team in scoring last year at seven goals.

Senior goalkeeper Jack Van Arsdale finished last season with a 1.10 goals-against average, ranking as the 11th-best total in UK single-season history.

Saturday’s game will kick-off at 3 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex
