UK men’s basketball head coach John Calipari announced on his website Monday that junior forward Kyle Wiltjer is considering leaving the program.

“Kyle’s choice to explore options at another school disappoints me, but it’s his decision at the end of the day, and I fully support his decision,” Calipari said in a statement on CoachCal.com.

Wiltjer, who is currently playing with the Canadian National Team, has concerns over his role on the team in the upcoming season.

From CoachCal.com:

Wiltjer averaged just over 10 points and four rebounds for the Cats last season, and was expected to contribute consistent minutes next season despite the influx of top freshman arriving in Lexington.

If the Canadian forward does decide on transferring, senior forward Jon Hood and senior guard  Jarrod Polson would be the only upperclassmen on the 2013-14 roster with notable experience in a UK uniform.

Wiltjer wrote a letter a letter to UK fans, which can be found here.
