The UK swimming and diving teams secured a win in their last home meet of the season Saturday afternoon.

The Cats dominated the University of Cincinnati Bearcats by a total score of 400-186 and were victorious in 26 of the 32 events.

Senior Day celebrations took place Saturday at the Lancaster Aquatics Center commemorating 16 seniors who swam in their last meet.

“(The seniors) have worked extremely hard,” head coach Lars Jorgensen said. “They have been very supportive of the program. Hopefully they’ll see that in three or four years from now the program is a lot better because some of the stuff that they did this year.”

UK men’s swimming swam to a 213-80 win while the lady Cats finished with a 187-106 win.

Freshman Kelly Berger snagged two wins in the meet and freshman Danielle Galyer picked up a win and a second place finish in her events. Galyer also contributed in a winning women’s relay for the Cats.

Freshman Drew Aviotti from the men’s side won the 1650-yard free and freshman Brandon Flynn came in second.

“It was fun,” Jorgensen said. “We have swam a really difficult schedule so we haven’t had the chance to win very much. To get one today was good. Cincinnati has got a lot of really good athletes, so for us it was a good competition.

“It was nice to get some momentum heading into the SEC championships.”

UK’s dive team was just as successful in Saturday’s competition. The men and women’s sides won the 1-meter and the 3-meter diving events.

Junior Christa Cabot won both dive events for the women and senior Greg Ferrucci won both for the men. UK divers finished second in each event as well.

UK will now move on to the 2014 swimming and diving SEC championship in Athens, Ga., at the University of Georgia. The tournament is set to begin Feb. 18 and finish Feb. 22.
