While President Donald Trump was announcing his nomination to the Supreme Court in Washington D.C., Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. was catching a UK basketball game before he speaks as part of the UK College of Law’s new lecture series.

His presentation is part of the first judicial conference and speaker series hosted by the John G. Heyburn II Initiative and UK College of Law.

Chief Justice Roberts has served on the Supreme Court since 2005, when former President George W. Bush appointed him.

Chief Justice Roberts will be giving a presentation as well as having a conversation with Director of the Administrative Office of the US Courts James C. Duff.

His presentation will follow a panel featuring University of Michigan Political Science Professor Pamela Brandwein, Director of the Federal Judicial Center the Honorable Jeremy Fogel and Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit the Honorable Carl E. Stewart. The topic of the presentation is Judicial Courage.

The event will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in the Kincaid Auditorium in the UK College of Business and Economics.

Tonight President Donald Trump is expected to announce his supreme court nomination. A spot has been vacant since Justice Antonin Scalia died in early 2016.
