Betsy DeVos was confirmed Tuesday as the education secretary of President Trump’s administration. The confirmation tied the Senate 50-50, with the deciding vote going to Vice President Mike Pence.

Ms. DeVos’ confirmation was opposed by several Senate Democrats, as well as citizens across the country that felt the billionaire and charter school supporter was not qualified for the job.
