Over the summer, exciting new ideas in gaming have been presented. There are a lot of games to look forward to and a lot of new innovative ideas that should be interesting or perhaps even revolutionize the world of gaming.

E3, the world-famous gaming conference, occurred in mid-June. It’s where console gamers from all over the world get together to see what’s coming in the gaming world. E3 is short for Electronic Entertainment Expo and it is a yearly conference that started in 1995.

One of the biggest announcements was a new open world massively multiplayer online role-playing game (or MMORPG) named Anthem. Anthem is made by the creators of the Mass Effect series, Bioware, and it is geared to be a reaction and competitor to Bungie’s widely successful Destiny.

Anthem features a complete open world experience for the player to explore with their mech-suit-wearing avatar. The game presents what seems to be a good amount of class variation and a good variety of arsenal.

The most exciting aspect of the game is the sheer vastness it advertises. It seems the player has an incredibly large area to explore seen in some of the most stunning graphics in gaming thus far.

A somewhat unexpected announcement has had many gamers feeling nostalgic. Square Enix announced a third installment to its blockbuster series Kingdom Hearts. This series started as a crossover between the magical world of Disney and the vast universe of Final Fantasy. It has been over ten years since the release of Kingdom Hearts 2 and many fans already have their money ready for a game they have waited over a decade for.

Bethesda announced Evil Within 2, an anticipated sequel to its blockbuster horror game, and the makers of South Park announced their next game following the widely loved Southpark and the Stick of Truth.

E3 also featured trailers for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 by Dice and Middle Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to one of the only blockbuster Lord of the Rings games.

Marvel announced an exciting new Spiderman title that looks to be revolutionary in the genre of superhero games. Although this game will only be featured on PS4, it shows promise seeing the small number of successful superhero games.

Xbox announced two new consoles, Xbox One X and Xbox One S. The X is a slightly beefed up Xbox One. The S is the most powerful gaming console to ever be put on the market, featuring the latest hardware and software in the technology world. Xbox is also adding to its backwards compatibility by making select original Xbox games playable on the newest gen consoles.

This only scratches the surface of all the heavily anticipated titles coming to the gaming world in the next few years. There are many more games to get hyped about, so continue to follow these exciting breakthroughs in gaming.
