After a week of two conference wins and SEC awards, the University of Kentucky volleyball team moved forward in the AVCA poll and are now ranked the No. 6 team in the country, which is UK’s highest ranking since they were No. 5 in 1993.

The movement in the rankings was largely due to the Cats’ upset over previously No. 1 ranked Florida. The Cats defeated the Gators 3-1 to give Florida their first loss of the season.

The Cats also swept Texas A&M at home earlier in the week.

There were some big performances that came from both of those victories, especially from Leah Edmond and Madison Lilley. Because of their performances, Leah Edmond and Madison Lilley took home some weekly honors from the SEC.

Edmond was named the SEC Player and Offensive Player of the week after posting 31 kills in the two conference wins.

This season, Edmond is averaging 4.31 kills per set, and this is the second highest average in the SEC.

Lilley was given Co-Setter of the Week from the SEC. She posted 33 assists in the sweep of Texas A&M, and she contributed 52 assists in the defeat over the Gators.  She currently holds the best average for assists per frames in the SEC with 11.92.

Previously Lilley has won four honors of SEC Co-Setter of the Week awards.
